Tap I Class, ages 8-11
Tap is all about rhythm, footwork, and taking dance beyond the visual to the auditory, using the feet as a percussive “instrument” to create sounds while dancing. Key elements in tap class are timing, rhythm, and musicality, and a variety of music is used, although at times students will dance a cappella (with no musical accompaniment) to better hear the sounds they are making with their feet. Various styles will be incorporated into class, including Broadway tap and Rhythm tap.
Attire: Leotard or tank of any color, black jazz pants, black tap shoes, (any style). Hair should always be secured away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
